About Modelling

Want an exciting and well paid career in IT?

Want to develop smart computational models?

For further information contact
Prof. L. Batten (lmbatten@deakin.edu.au)
Dr. G. Beliakov (gleb@deakin.edu.au)

MM applies powerful computing techniques to smart mathematical methods to give you skills in both disciplines.

  • You will learn to model problems in many fields:
banking and finance, environmental modelling, telecommunications, biological and chemical modelling, communications security and more
    See Jobs guide at  www.austms.org.au/Jobs/Career_information.html
  • Your skills are in high demand in many industries, and starting salaries are in the top range.

  • Simple computer programming is a thing of the past. Modern IT relies on smart analytical methods, which require solid fundamentals in mathematics.
  • On the other hand, mathematical and statistical methods alone are not enough to make a difference: they must be integrated with algorithms and software.
  • At Deakin you can major in Mathematical Modelling as part of a degree programme through the Faculties of Science and Technology, Education or Arts.
